hello,

i just need some help on the +sens/-sens found on some power supply...

if i use a regular power supply where the +/- sens need to be connected ?

ex: if i build a jamma loom for a atari system 1, the pinout say + sens then +5
or -sens then -15v

po1 power

Hey fever, aren't these the feedbacks that the power supply used to check the voltage and adjust if necessary. Think new switching power supplies don't want these connected....

You don't have to connect the sense lines.  If you want to, you can connect them as follows:

+ sense = +5v
- sense = ground

Some boards will *require* you to connect the sense lines in order to boot. I think Bally MCR boards are like this (e.g. Tron, Kickman, Tapper). But try it without connecting first and see if it boots.

 thanks a lot guys for the help !!!!

yes, some PCB require sens to be connected to boot properly.

You're correct.... the only purpose (in a round about way) is that the pcb knows that the voltage is there.
Kinda like the older Atari vectors that have sense lines on the ARII board.... it can be bypassed and the board will run fine.

Bypassing meaning -

You don't have to connect the sense lines.  If you want to, you can connect them as follows:

+ sense = +5v
- sense = ground

Forgive me if my terminology is a bit off, but you should get the idea.
