hey hey, jsut got a j-pac/arcadevga combo and i want to reformat and install mame. can i jsut plug it all in and reformat on the arcade monitor or should i use a pc monitor then move the computer into the cabinet. if so will it auto dectect the 15hz monitor after being hookedup to a pc monitor. first time using avga and jsut need some reassurance its not gonna blow up my 29" nanao monitor

Doesn't the arcadevga always put out arcade monitor friendly frequencies? I thought that because the frequency setting was hardware based, you could do literally everything with your arcade monitor that you could do with a normal monitor (including reformatting). I have seen arcadevga cards happily running under DOS, if that helps to ease your mind.

Now if you were running advancemame instead of using an arcadevga, I would tell you to reformat with your regular pc monitor only :)
