Any One Got A, Pentranic Triple/Multi Sync Monitor??
« on: July 29, 2007, 07:12:51 am »
Am after a Multi Sync Arcade monitor to go in my MAME cab, as im sick of having to fiddle about with screen size when changing from vertical to horizontal games with different frequencies. Over here in the UK i only really have 2 options either a Polostar which has been around for a while now, or the newish Triple/Multi Sync Monitors from Pentranic.

Im leaning more towards the Pentranic as it appears to be alot cheaper than the polostar, i know the polostar is tried and test and is surpossed to be great but at almost £400 its alot of money, where as the Pentranic is almost half that, is there a reason for it being so much cheaper, will it do everything the polostar does, remember screen setups etc?

Just really want peoples opinions, as i dont want to buy a turkey of a monitor and have nothing but trouble, i just want to install it in my cab and not have to fiddle about with screen size etc

Heh good luck.

The PoloStar is analogue so it won't remember your settings across resolution changes.  I phoned Pentranic and the guy there told me the digital multi-sync's only remember settings across high and medium resolutions, but not low res (iirc)...  can anyone confirm this?  Also, they only have them in > 25" size, which is too big for me.

In the end I think for my cab I am going to go for a normal Polo/3 low-res only arcade monitor, and have it rotate for my vertical games.  I'm working on some designs right now for the monitor rotation in Google Sketchup... great package for designing control panels/cabs (and its free too)!

Its really hard finding a decent digital multi-sync in the UK, so good luck! Might be easier importing one, if you can handle the cost.  :(

Why on earth would they only have it remember settings for medium and High resoultion settings and not for low, that seems a bit strange. Yeah i was thinking about importing but im guessing the shipping prices shall be £100 odd, i was after a 26 or 27" preferably
