Video in AtomicFE
« on: July 26, 2007, 12:09:00 am »
I am having issues with the videos in AtomicFE. I am just learning to make layouts in this FE and have not found documentation beyond the basics in the manual on the site.

My videos are distorted in Atomic but are fine in Media player. I have attached a sample with actual size AtomicFE on the left and Media player on the right. The size of the video is set to the actual size in atomic so it should not be a scaling issue (Size is 320x264).

I am also having an issue with the image list, I have it using marquees for now (I plan to create same sized custom "marquees" for the list in the future). The list shows the right marquees but the selection is always the same (1942, first in the list). I cannot seem to delete it either.  Edit: Fixed this by making the image a single pixel in the transparent color

I am in the process of a major overhaul of my cab with a new CP, RGB Leds and a new front end. I am hoping to find a FE that will give me all I want (Which is a lot). My biggest need is a "Graphical" list as I have always had a hard time with text lists, they just don't feel right to me. I have been using Ultrastyle for the past few years but it is no longer supported and they never worked out the bugs. I would love to see the ability to scale and rotate the individual items in the graphical list so I could simulate the "Wheel" effect in Ultrastyle which I find quite pleasing. edit: found the scaling just would like to rotate a little

All in all, AtomicFE looks to be the closest to what I am looking for (It is a very impressive FE) with MALA running a close 2nd. I have been kinda out of the arcade scene the past few years so I have to admit feeling a bit behind the times  :banghead:

It is nice to see that BYOAC is as active as ever.  :applaud:

Edit: I have spent a few more hours working with AtomicFE since posting this. I found that setting the HQ Video buffer helped the video quality on the vids a little but with it selected the snaps on games that I am missing videos for are now too small and left justified. I cannot get them to center or stretch as they do without the buffer active. I also created a mask for my marquee list (To round the corners) and after scrolling about 15 games thru the list there is a short pause and then the transparency color starts showing where the marquees in the list should be transparent.

You can see in the picture that the left one is about impossible to read and the jaggies are a lot worse (Such as in the top of the Y). I have noticed that stills in AtomicFE seem to do this as well.

Hi,

I will be more than happy to help you to make your layout as you want. and fix your other problems.

I think the more efficient way to help you , is that you contact me directly by mail :    y o u k i @ a t o m i c f e . c o m

it would be nice if you can send me the layout you are making in the state where it is.  and if you have a moke up screen of what you would like to get ideally. I will work with you to get the closest.

you can also have a look to the offical AtomicFE forums :

Youki,

I will try to get an email to you tomorrow, my mockup is still in the fuzzy, between the ears, phase. I have been trying to lock down what features will be available before finalizing but I think I can throw somthing rough together in the morning. I would love to be able to do it today but I have guests coming.
