I know there are a bunch of Guitar Hero fans on the forum, so for you guys... this is what you've been waiting for.  I can't wait for this damn game to come out.  i don't even care what it costs... I'm just going to go to EB Games and hand them my credit card.

Mid November, $200, that includes the new guitar (with the solo frets), drum kit and microphone. One of the old Guitar Hero guitars will work fine for the bass guitar, so they aren't including it in the kit, since a lot of people have them already. Since the drums are slated to cost $100 by themselves, the $200 is an insane deal.

If you are serious about buying it on release day, I'd go down to Gamestop and pre-order it ASAP. Right now they haven't cut off pre-orders, but if the demand gets high enough, they very well may, and being earlier on the list is going to only work in your favor if that happens (I pre-ordered on the first day, the only people ahead of me are employees of the store).

I just got into Guitar Hero about a month ago and I'm fully addicted at this point. It even prompted me to finally buy a wide screen TV-I upgraded from my 10 year old 21" tube to a 37" 4:3 LCD because I got sick of the screen always going crappy on me while I was playing. Also prompted me to buy a 360 so I can be ready for GH3 and Rock Band.

And crash, you could always buy a PS3 instead

yeah, I really hate the idea of preorders... it's just one of my pet peeves, but I may have to suck it up this time.  I knew about the $200 price point which is fine with me, but rumors are still stirring that it may change since it's not the official price.

I'm very excited though, especially for the drums.  Looks like it's going to be a TON of fun.

Guitar Hero 3 is going to have a Wii release however.  Honestly, I'm much more excited for the 360 version personally for the graphics if nothing else.  The Wiimote will be useless for this game, so I'd rather have the nicer looking game/resolution options.

Actually, unless something has changed, all versions of guitar hero 3 will be identical.  Naturally, m$ requires their games to be "hd" so they'll slap on higer-res textures for the 360 and ps3 versions but it'll be the same exact game.  Shame on you, guitar hero isn't about graphics!  If anything, the ps3 users will lose out as that is the only version that lacks downloadable content (at least atm).

Got the prices from the guys who work at Gamestop and from inside the pre-order book that lists all their upcoming releases. Granted, prices could always change, I imagine, but it's a pretty rare thing to have happen unless they get adjusted downwards-considering the fact that the game is being released in about 4 months, I have to imagine that the hardware side, at least, is finalized and in manufacturing or very close to it.

I don't have an offical number for the price of game + guitar, but I would personally put the guess at about $80, since that's what they're stating for GH3+guitar on the 360. Might be $5-10 more because of the new frets, I suppose, but I wouldn't imagine it being over $100 at the very outside.

Regardless of just using higher res textures, I'll still look forward to the 360 version much more.  Xbox Live is far more useful than the Nintendo service, and if I'm going to pay the same price anyway, I'll take the higher res and textures.  GH is NOT about graphics, I completely agree... but if all else is equal, why wouldn't I want the better looking game?

I like Wii when it offers me something the other consoles can't.  In the case of GH3, it doesn't.

And yes, I got the $200 price tag from EB Games and reports online.  It's still not officially confirmed IIRC, but it seems more and more likely.  The $200 price tag includes one of the new Fender guitars, a mic, and the drums.  The 2nd guitar would have to be bought separately, or you can use the Xplorer from the 360 Guitar Hero game.

And there's no reason to include a Bass guitar in Rock Band, since most people who would buy it would already own one from playing one of the Guitar Hero games and you can only use the new solo frets when playing lead guitar. It would be an unneeded added expense for a huge portion of their target market, doubly so with Guitar Hero 3 coming out a month before it.

It's funny... I've met a lot of people who said that Guitar Hero looked really stupid, but I've only met one person personally that didn't enjoy the game at all once they've played it.

it's just one of those games (in my opinion) that is a blast to play.  They are so much fun, and I think adding the drums will only add to it.  I'm not sure the mic is needed, but it's cool I guess.

If you've never tried it, I'd really suggest you do... you might find you really enjoy yourself.  Almost everyone I've had try it has wound up really liking it.  Then again, if any music games and/or games with crazy controllers (DDR, Beatmania, Pop'NMusic, etc) don't appeal to you, this probably won't change your mind.

Im of a different breed.

I bought and really really enjoyed GH. I got most of the way through expert, but I just dont have the time, dedication, and patience to try and get through expert. My buddy does, and while I barely finished the first 20 songs of Expert it got too hard and too unfun for me. I 5 stared every song on medium though, woot for me!

PS: Tipper Queen is both amazing, and amazingly attractive.

This guy I know that plays in a real band was at bestbuy or similar and he was curious so he picked up GH and started fiddling with one of the songs (and doing badly) and some teenage geek in the store started laughing at him and said "your horrible" and he was like "so...I can play the song for real !?!"

I've actually been "out" of the gaming scene for quite some time now. It's just hard for me to hold any interest in new games anymore. Until.... We went over to a friends house one night and played DDR on his 360. The next day, I was ordering a couple of dance mats for me and my wife. Same thing with Guitar Hero. Even after I played DDR, I didn't really think that GH would appeal to me. But, after playing it for a couple hours the other night, I'm now looking to get a GH bundle set.

This guy I know that plays in a real band was at bestbuy or similar and he was curious so he picked up GH and started fiddling with one of the songs (and doing badly) and some teenage geek in the store started laughing at him and said "your horrible" and he was like "so...I can play the song for real !?!"   

LOL.. this post makes me laugh so much, because I have a friend that is an excellent guitar player and says "I can play this song FOR REAL" all the time when playing GH.  That means diddly when you're playing a video game.

Its not a game for "wannabes"  How on earth is a plastic guitar with FIVE NOTES anywhere near comparable to a real guitar?  Its not... its just a game controller that's meant to bring you into the fun.  Short of maybe being useful for rhythm practice and timing, it has no musically redeeming factors... because its a GAME.  It's not meant to.

I don't really even understand what you are saying in this post.  You say it would take "maybe longer" to learn guitar than Guitar Hero?  Please tell me you are joking.  You can pick up Guitar Hero and play an Easy or Medium song the second you start.  Give yourself an hour or two and you'll be competent on Hard.  Let's see how far you get playing a real guitar for 2 hours.  DDR is the same way, as are most of these games.... they SIMULATE actions that usually take much longer to master, thus making it FUN.  You are not going to learn to dance in 10 mins, nor play guitar... it's not going to happen.  These games make things like that accessible.

And as for being lazy... um... these are the types of games that DON'T have you sitting on your ass.  While you won't be playing a real guitar, the action of playing GH is pretty much identical to playing a real guitar.  DDR has you really moving, if not "dancing."  how exactly is that being lazy?

That's the point of games dude... to create a fun experience in a way that is easily accessible.  Playing Guitar Hero and learning to play guitar are light years apart.  There is no comparison.  It takes years to become a competent guitar player... why would people do that instead of Guitar Hero if they wanted to have some fun?

Heh.  I finally came upon one of those drum games in the arcade, so I just HAD to try it.  I was done by the third bar, when playing "Another One Bites The Dust" which I can play with one hand, off hand, eyes closed on a real kit.  I was like "WTF is that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- all about?!?"
