Wells Gardner Monitor not turning on
« on: July 22, 2007, 09:52:30 pm »
I bought a Golden Tee 99 game but the monitor won't power on.  It's a Wells Gardner monitor. The sounds, marquee light and fan turn but not the monitor.  The yellow and green lights on the game board light up.  I plugged the game board to a different jamma game and it plays normally.  There is no light to the neck of the monitor at all (in the filaments?).  Please help me troubleshoot this.  What should I do first?  Thanks

I probably can't help much but I'm in the same place with a w/g 25k7191. I found the 2A fuse on the board burned out. The only problem I have is after replacing it, the fuse blew as soon as I powered up the game. Mine is a "Skins Gam". Ill be interested in what you find.

First thing to do is GET THE MODEL NUMBER OF THE MONITOR!

The deflection board is "p963" and the monitor has WG 1405968 on it.  I checked the fuse and it's fine.  Where do I start?

Are you sure it doesn't say P763 ?
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Yes, the deflection board says P763.  Sorry, that was a typo.  Okay, what should be done first?

So you've got a K7401.

okay I discharged the montitor and removed the deflection and neck board.  I looked for places that the solder may have come loose.  I only found one joint that needed to be resoldered.  I fixed that but still no change.

I believe the neck board is working properly.  The deflection board is not through.  What are the most common things to break on the deflection board.  What should I check first and how.  Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help!

Is the fuse on the chassis ok? Deflection transistors? Flyback cracked or burned?
WTB: The Grid by Midway (2001), looking for 2 or more complete games, and large marquee

I checked the fuse and it's okay.  How do I check the Deflection transistors and flyback for problems?
