Vertical arcade monitor

Hi gang, I want to replace the monitor in my vertical mame machine that I am building. It has a wells 4606 in it. I called wells and they said that they do not make a vertical monitor. Is there a difference between a horozontal and vertical mount monitor? I have to use the rotate feature on the arcadevga card to get it to display vertically with the 4606 also. Someone told me I may have to turn the tube/yoke. Is that correct?

There is no real physical difference between a vertical and a horizontal mount monitor. The person you talked to at wells was a moron.

Now, some shelf mount monitors are a pain in the butt to mount vertically, due to lack of mounting brackets.

So, to review. A vertical monitor is a regular monitor turned longways. That is it.

Is there something wrong with the monitor in your cabinet now? Is it currently set up vertical or horizontal?

Also. You always have to change settings to get games to display correctly on vertical monitors, because MAME is assuming a horizontal one otherwise.

It is the WHOLE FRAME that you rotate 90 degrees. Not just the tube/yoke. The entire unit.

OH YES!!!

I can see pacman on it no matter what game I play....LOL
It has a lot of burn in. I got it with the cabinet to get me started.

You can swap the tube out if you want to, but that is complicated sometimes.

If the monitor works otherwise, then I'll give you $10 for the frame and boards (just toss the tube itself out, as it is heavy, burnt in, and may break in shipping). Not exactly a high offer, but it would at least pay for some of your new monitor.

Thanks, but I am keeping it for now. I have it working pretty good. The Burn in is a little annoying, but I have spent my allowance for this project for now.  That gives m a little while to figure out if I want to put another 19" vertical or squeeze in a 25" and be able to play both formats
