question about the 8/4/07 auction in winston-salem, nc
« on: July 19, 2007, 01:30:59 pm »
i saw where there's an auction in winston-salem coming up.....it's not that far from me and i was thinking about attending.  i've never been to an auction like this before and i had a few questions:

-is the auction open to the public?  or do you have to be a dealer or distrubutor to attend?

-can anybody that attends bid on the arcade games?  in other words, if i'm just there to look for games for my home, can i bid just like everybody else?

-do i need to register to attend?  or just show up?

-i know they have a viewing time on the friday night before the auction.......what is done during this time?  if i'm going to bid on a game, can i play it during this time to make sure it works properly?  any restrictions on what you can do during this time?

-also, are there any additional charges associated with bidding on or winning an item?  or do you just pay what your high bid was?

thanks in advance for the help......oh, and here's a link to the auction that i want to attend:

There is always an auction house commission on top of the bid price and often sales tax as well.  Expect to pay as much as 20% above what you actually bid.  You don't usually have to be a dealer or distributor but you usually do have to register in order to bid.

i finally got a return phone call from the auction folks and they confirmed that it was open to the public with a 13% buyers fee (10% for cash).

If you buy anything, keep a close eye on it throughout the auction...don't let someine F*** around in your game(that you won)...

That sucks, I'm like 45 minutes away from Winston Salem, but I have a family reunion that weekend that can't be missed.
