What does it matter what sport he plays? It does not represent the whole of that sport and it can happen to anyone who bumps into another person. Why are you trying to make it sound like players from that sport are any different than anyone else?

It's because they are.  Have you ever played rugby?  Those pro guys are lunatics.  Playing in traffic would result in less injuries.

Let us know when you have someone else's bone surgically removed from your body.

There's your setup, boys... knock it down.

Oh, so i must now have had to play and get injured in that way to comment on this?

It's a rare isolated incident.

You can comment all you want.  Comments don't necessarily include credibility, particularly when one questions the toughness of someone who played with a tooth lodged in their skull.

The toughness isn't incurring the injury.  The toughness is in playing with it for three months.  I sure as hell never played with an injury like that one.

I just read a paper dealing with how civilized rugby is compared to american football. At first, I was like, ---That which is odiferous and causeth plants to grow---! but the guy had a very believable air about him. Things about how ram tackles without wrapping up the player are illegal, gang tackles are illegal, etc. Then, I went and watched a youtube highligth video to remind that the guy was, in fact, full of said ---That which is odiferous and causeth plants to grow---. :laugh2: There were guys leading with elbows to the face. gang tackles galore, and other brutalizing "illegal" hits. And I sure as hell didn't seeing the posterized guys teamates going berzerk because of the "illegal" hits.

So yeah, that sport is f'in crazy and the guys who play it professionally are the craziest dudes on the planet.

My advice - just for something different - would be to watch the Rugby World Cup (hosted by France) in August this year.  It's televised all over the world and I would also encourage all the US members on this board to support the Wallabies because they'll need all the help they can.

I reckon you'd enjoy watching it.

ESPN2 is likely going to interrupt its regularly scheduled broadcast for a week long 24/7 candle light vigil to the career of Michael Vick.  No one in sports has done more for their 10 second highlight broadcasts than him.  And how he's gone.

If he has done what he has been indicted on, then he deserves to rot in jail. Not only did he "allegedly" participate in killing some of the dogs, but TORTURE KILLED the poor things. Hanging, electrocution, slamming them into the ground, shooting them, etc. WTF??

I doubt he personally did any of that crap, really... he would be the money man that paid for it all and then showed up for the events, I'm thinking.  Not that that makes him any less liable but it's not quite the same as the guys actually raping and killing the animals.

The feds don't usually indict unless they know they can convict.  If he's not suspended by Goodell for at least half a year to start the new conduct policy will be instantly irrelevant.

No, I would be more inclined to say he DID participate. I can just see it ticking thru his brain "They just dogs, DAWG. Ain't nobodies goona care if we's kill 'em. Besides, I be Mike Vick - ain't nobody gonna touch me". Too bad for him people do care.

I hope he goes to jail for the max sentence, 10 years I believe.  Whether he personally killed or tortured the dogs doesn't matter to me, if he knew what was going on, funded it or attended the fights, he's just as guilty!!  He's a piece of garbage who was an average QB at best.

I was so pissed off the other day.  I was listening to NFL radio on Sirius and they were interviewing a player that obviously knows Vick, unfortunately I didn't get his name.  Anyway this ---smurfing--- idiot had the balls (or lack of intelligence) to actually say that dog fighting isn't that big of a deal and that it should be legalized.  What a ---smurfing--- ---meecrob--- bag.

Oh yea, and the Giants are gonna suck.  Eli is no leader.

More than a few guys have said that about dogfighting and Vick.  Clinton Portis said it straight out to the media (then the next day said they misunderstood - liar).

Prosecutors allege that on one occasion earlier this year, Vick participated in killing eight dogs.

From the CNN article:

Clinton portis's exact words:
Quote
“It’s his property; it’s his dogs. If that’s what he wants to do, do it.”

What an uneducated idiot.

Oh, Portis said more than that, IIRC, but I'm too lazy to look it up.  Stuff about how dogfighting happens all the time and isn't a big deal.

BTW, if that part about Vick participating in the killing of dogs is true, he's worse than I would have thought.  The money guy doesn't have to get his hands dirty unless he enjoys it.

I would think that in a high profle case like this (especially after the Duke trial fiasco), the DA wouldn't even have included the killings in the indictment unless they had admissible proof. I would say it is safe to say he did kill at least a few dogs.

The DA isn't involved.  This is federal.  The feds have a 95% conviction rate.

Vick is ---fouled up beyond all recognition---.

I don't think you understand what i meant. The end to that first post was,  but you can't take the ghetto out of the guy.  Meaning, just because he became a star he still continues to do things that one would consider morally wrong that he probably did while not having money, only now, he does it in a mansion instead of a project building.

Right, and ghettos are inner city places.  Dogfighting is a BFE country thing.  Requires lots of space.  Not a ghetto activity.

Yes, I'll be sure to do that. :)

Oh and to answer a previous question, I believe the Rugby World Cup will be broadcast on Setanta Sports.

And the U.S. will be participating, too.  But it's in September, not August.
