n64 gets the ben heck treatment
« on: July 11, 2007, 10:59:35 am »

since ive been immersing myself in n64 stuff and just in case you hadnt seen it, ben heck has given the n64 his touch:

http://www.benheck.com/Games/Nintendo_projects/N64p/N64p_page1.htm

it doesnt actually look much smaller than the original console though, unlike his earlier creations like the atari 2600 portable, or his PSp (although this has the bloody cd just spinning behind it and in the open  :o)

It kinda looks uncomfortable to have to hold up the weight of the thing and press the buttons how they are placed.

Nothing he makes ever looks comfortable, but that was one of his worst.  Uncomfortable looking and missing two controls (He had his reasons behind that, but why limit what you can play?), but at least he put the friggin' cartridge port in a proper position.

I agree, he seems more interested in making it portable and look nice than making it playable.  Even his first mod (portable 2600) had the stupid cart hanging over the screen which not only looks dumb but it throws off the center of gravity for the machine, thus making it akward to play.

And that was pre-CNC machine obsession.

It just seems to be more of a conversation piece/"Lookie what I can do" thing with him.
