How are YOU running your vector games?
« on: July 08, 2007, 12:34:24 pm »
Hey guys!
Getting the cab back in order - still, and on the subject of vector games - I cant seem to get them to display as good as I remember them on my previous (.74) load of mame. I understand that theyll NEVER look like vector monitor quality, but I know they looked better before. It appears tempest is more blockier and I cant see the missiles in asteroids or asteroids deluxe, but the rest of the graphics look good (ships asteroids).
Does anyone have a killer setup for vector games with this newer version of mame - .106?
oh, I am running a cga monitor that only displays 640x304 max. But like I said, I know it looked better before.
Thanks - any help would be appreciated!

I have no experience with this but I'll venture some guesses for you....

Perhaps you have anti-alising messing it up?

Maybe there was a vector graphics system rewrite to optimize the graphics for a hi-res display without regard for a low res display.   :dunno

You could always run your vector games on the older version of mame, with everthing else running the later version.  (perhaps you are aware but) Some FE's allow you to use more than one version of MAME.

Good luck,
Rick
