I have an xbox that has a Phillips dvd drive in it and it wouldn't read ANY media I burned. I read about adjusting the pot on it and I figured, why not try it. Before the adjustment, it read 863 ohms and I tried to move it. It wouldn't move at first then it just let loose. I checked again and it was at ~300. Online it says not to go below 500. OOPS! So I turned it back some and got it to a reading of 528. I put it all back together and it reads dvd+r and dvd-r now. I tried a cd-r but it didn't read that. I guess most drives won't though so I am not concerned about that. I haven't tried a cd-rw yet but I am happy with the dvd readings.
Anyway...I just thought I would mention it here in case anyone has a drive that won't read burned media. It isn't as hard as it looks. Fairly easy in fact. I am probably going to try it again on my Thompson drive. That one doesn't read crap either. But it looks like that one is harder to adjust. We will find out I guess.
