Fantastic role for Asteroids in Die Hard 4.0 :)

Well, we can add a movie in which (classic) arcade games star: Went to Die Hard 4.0 yesterday and Asteroids is VERY prominent in a long scene. Who lent his cab out to the movie guys ? Sadly it wasn't played, but it was running and had a great picture. The marquee was used a lot as a backdrop in quite a number of shots in the scene.....loved it

Great movie by the way......Exactly like you'd expect from a Die Hard movie. Brainless fun, go see it

I noticed the sound effects from the game were used as well, although they abruptly cut in and out as the film cut from one camera angle to another.  Little sound editing error there, I guess.

As for the movie, meh.  Not up to the standards of the first one by a long shot, and most of the acting -smurfed- -smurf-.  Wait for video.

I thought it was a great movie-yeah, not Die Hard 1, but for a number 4 it was great (and better than most other action movies, sequel or not). Yes, there's a bit of predictability that can be expected at this point in the series, but I rather enjoyed them branching out in terms of location (it's not all shot inside a office tower or airport this time) and the overall plot of the movie was just believable enough to allow you to get into the suspension of disbelief without being jarred out too badly.

And hey...Asteroids.

Holy crap.....I just had a flashback about the movie. I was looking at some pictures of Asteroids cabs and then it struck me that of course, this is a B/W game (DUUUUUUHHHHH !).
Then I thought I remembered that the CRT in the movie was showing colors !!!!!

It may also have been the third Heineken I was pouring down, but something in my memory is still telling me it was colors on the screen....Can somebody who also saw the movie confirm/deny this ? ? ?

Asteroids deluxe was basically a colorized asteroids game.  It might have been that.

Well the cab and marquee were definitely  Asteroids and not the Deluxe or anything else.

But they may have put Deluxe pictures in it. Or digitally added color, would be a snap for the digital pixel wonder guys in Hollywood.....

I'm actually trying to find the scene right now, for research purposes only of course !!!

Mmmm, ok so I got some shots of the scene. The vid is too crappy to even see if I was right....it looks like B/W on this but quality is so low (why do people even bother watching this crappy quality) I can't really tell....

Yeah, Asteroids had a nice supporting role in that scene, there.  Good stuff.

I, too, noticed it was color on the screen.  I think it was one of those cheesy overlays that they put on 'em to jump start earnings back in the day, tho. . .

Fairly good flick, overall, too.
