33" WG U3100 with missing parts, worth replacing?
« on: July 01, 2007, 12:31:00 am »
This is my first post here so I hope I'm not breaking any rules...

I picked up this 33" WG U3100 for next to nothing at an auction and it has quite a few parts missing. After doing some checking it looks like it will cost at least $400 to replace the obvious missing parts (neck board and chassis board). I'm assuming there are other parts I don't know about besides those.

I'm in the process of building a cab right now and I would like to use this monitor rather than the 27" TV I had planned. It seems like even if I replaced all the parts I would still be paying much less than if I had bought the same sized monitor new, is this observation correct?

My biggest question is even if I did replace all the missing parts (if that is even possible) is it likely that I could still find out there was something wrong with the tube itself? What other parts would I need to replace aside from the neck board and chassis board?

If anyone could give any feedback I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Without knowing that it is a good tube I doubt that I would invest in the parts required to restore it . It was probably not working when someone took the parts off of it to use elsewhere.  If that is the case it quite possibly could be a bad tube. The risk does not seem to be worth it.
