Flashing images make the picture roll on my K7000
« on: June 28, 2007, 06:06:55 am »
I have a WG K7131. It definitely needs a cap kit and that will be happening very shortly.

This monitor is in a Neo-Geo cabinet so between every round of KOF'99 It flashes white as it transitions to and from the VS screen. Every time it does this the picture rolls. I've had similar results hooking up a Darkstalkers PCB to it. Everytime the lightning flashes in the game intro the screen rolls. The only thing I've found that makes any difference is turning the brightness way down but then the games look horrible.

Is there anything specifically that could be done to the monitor to help with this?

As already pointed out...... (sorta)

Any time a monitor is suspected to need a cap kit for whatever reason, age, color, geometry, etc........
Do that first before trying to troubleshoot other issues.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

I guess I'm just being lazy about it. The rolling picture thing is the only part that really annoys me. The rest I can live with (like the 1-inch stripe where the image is squished a bit).

I did get it a bit better by tweaking the vertical hold. The Neo-Geo has a pretty good range where the picture stays put, but by moving that a bit now the screen just jitters instead of actually flipping.
