Hit the Ice cabinet
« on: June 26, 2007, 01:03:47 pm »
This Hit the Ice cabinet is for sale near me for $150.  I checked KLOV and looks like it is a conversion but not sure what the original cabinet was.  Looks like it needs a lot of work, plus I have never hear of Hit the Ice.  The seller says it works.  Thought about offering him $75.  Any input on if that is a good deal or not?

Indy Craigslist.  Saw this awhile ago.  Let me know if it works out for you.

And I have no idea on the value.   ;D

I figured one of you other Indy guys probably saw it as well.  Just figured $75 wasn't a bad price but just wanted to get a second opinion.  Not much else out there in the Indy area right now.

Lemme know if you do anything on this.  You are right, there isnt much available right now.

Did you see the Moon Patrol in Lafayette though?

Arch Rivals is to NBA JAM what Hit the Ice is to NHL Open Ice....
so think of it as a slower uglier prequel to NHL Open Ice.

I'd snag the cab, then convert it.

I did see the moon patrol.  I thought about asking for some pictures of that one.  I am in Noblesville so Lafayette isn't too bad of a drive.  But for 300 bones I would need some pics before I made the trip.

Malenko thanks for the info.  I had never heard of it.  I like the conversion idea though.  Any ideas what the cabinet was originally?

The cabinet shape is very similar to other bally midway games in the '89-91' era.

Well I am waiting on a response when I can go take a look at it.  I figure for $75 it would make a decent project cabinet depending on how much work needs to be done.

Do you guys know what the Aladdin's Castle Choice plate means?  I did some searches and did come up with anything.

Hoopz I asked the selling in Lafayette if he could send me some pictures of the Moon Patrol.  I let you know if I hear anything back from him.

It was probably originally bought by an Aladin's Castle arcade.

The only Aladdin's Castle that I am sure of what at Eastgate Mall.  I don't know if Washington Square, Castleton, or Greenwood had Aladdin's in them.  I can't remember now.  But Eastgate definitely did.

Hopefully you get some pics.

Just an FYI but the Putt-Putt in Bloomington (off Pete Ellis drive) has a small arcade room with 3 or 4 games that didn't work along with a pin that didn't work. I was there last week. You may contact em and see if they have any plans for them.  I am sure they would ask too much, but it wont hurt to ask.

I used to live in Bloomington.  I am trying to remember what they had there.  I might give them a call.  My fiance is going to kill me if I buy too many before I get the basement finished.  That is the bad thing about finishing the basement yourself, just not enough time in a day to get everything done.

Hit the Ice was a pretty fun game. T
Arch Rivals is to NBA JAM what Hit the Ice is to NHL Open Ice....
so think of it as a slower uglier prequel to NHL Open Ice.

Probably the better comparison is that Hit the Ice is to Hockey what Arch Rivals was to Basketball (and Pigskin was to Football). Fast paced sports with some violence thrown in. Not a bad game to play but I don't know if it would hold up long-term. AFAIK all of the dedicated cabs were 4-player giants. Just like in the flyer. At least Hit the Ice is JAMMA.

I can't find any pictures, but Aladdin's Castle also had their own generic cabs. Someone had converted one for a MAME project not too long ago, but I can't find any pics. It was a Ms Pac shade of blue with white stripes and a red logo and trim. I remember it being a funky shape to be a generic cab, so it might be the same. It looks to be about the right shade of blue peeking through the black near the Aladdin's Castle tag.

I'd look at it as a generic JAMMA cab, unless you have a 4-player cabinet you could drop the PCB into.
Brevity is not my strong suit.

Well I am going to pick it up tomorrow.  He said he would give it to me if I came and got it out of his garage.  I figured that means there is some work to be done on it.  Oh well, for that price I couldn't pass it up.  I post some more pics and an update once I get it home.

Well I got the cabinet home and plugged it in.  Nothing happened.  So looks like I have some trouble shooting ahead of me.  Hopefully nothing major but only time will tell.  The cabinet is actually in great condition so it will make a very good project cabinet.  I will attach more pics once I get time to dig into more.
