Cell phone gaming, what's good?
« on: June 21, 2007, 12:14:39 pm »
Well, I'm not much for gaming on my phone but I'm going on a trip and just got a new razr phone (it was free).

Any games worthy of spending few travel minutes on...?

Too bad there's not a java version of Mame.

Please give me some suggestions.

One of my favorites is calling some random number and asking if their refrigerator is running.

Sorry knave, I'd rather pluck nostril hairs out in slow motion than play a cell phone game. The size of the screen and controls would freak me out.

In the past I've thought the same thing...but there are a rare few that are ok...and the screens nowadays are like that of the original gameboys...

Clones of tetris, arkanoid, pac-man, frogger, galaga...would be just fine, I'm hoping for someone who might know of a few they can reccomend.

Cheers

The best cell phone games are those that require little action.  I bought River Raid on my old cell phone and it played worse than those old Tiger LCD games.  It's not the game's fault.  Playing games with phone buttons is less than ideal (see: nGage).  Something like solitaire, trivia, Wheel of Fortune, etc. are the only real games I'dl be able to stand playing on a cell phone for more than a couple of minutes.

I play Monopoly on my cell phone and it's very good.  Computer players are ok, controls are good etc.  Nice its not an action game that requires a lot of buttons to be pushed.  I would highly recommend it.

Diner Dash is fun on the Razr phone.  Orcs and Elves is fun but moves a little slow.

i play bomberman and some arknoid clone on my phone occasionally.  Not ideal controls but seems to work fine.

i enjoyed sim city again, and there was a good sim called 'rock city empire' i think where you  had to buy pubs and deck them out to cater for changing audiences. not bad.
