Info needed on Compaq P110 PC Monitor
« on: June 18, 2007, 02:40:57 pm »
Ok this is a real shot in the dark, does anyone own or has previously owned i a Compaq P110 PC monitor?

I need to know if these old monitors have a protective metal cage that covers the Tube etc.
I've googled like mad but can't seem to find any images of the monitor with the rear case off.

Help !!!  :hissy:

Every PC monitor I have ever decased has had a metal shield inside.  I think they all need it to comply with the reqirements to not interfere with other devices.  Monitors have circuits that run at a much higher freq then regular TVs and arcade monitors and thus the metal shielding to cut interference,.

I have a 21" PC Monitor in my cab and took a 17" one apart last week and both had the shield.
However today I bought a 19", got it home and took it apart only to find no metal cage, I then looked at my desktop monitor and again no cage.
I'm glad I found this out otherwise I would have bought blindly thinking they come with cages.

I want to buy a pallet load of these monitors but don't want to get them only to find they have no cage, they are so much easier to work with when everything is neatly tucked away and safe.

Check the inside of the plastic cases of those without sheilding.  They might have a conductive coating that replaces the metal cage.  If not I guess the newer monitors are getting better at not causing interference.
