Mappy issue in native resolution mode
« on: June 13, 2007, 02:06:23 am »
When I run Mappy in native mode, I get tearing. Usually, triplebuffer will rectify this in a game, and it does in this case, but then I get audio stutter - about every two or three seconds. This is on a 2.8 P4 with a gig of memory and the AVGA 2. It easily handles high-end Mame games in even the latest version, let alone the .104 that I normally run. Anyone else noticed this or have any ideas?

whats the native res? i used to have this problem on some games then i adjusted the resolution in the ini file to another, because the resolution your trying to use cannot be displayed properly by the monitor (assuming its a arcade monitor) try some others, im sure it will fix your problem

Actually, with my hardware, like other Namco games that are 224x288, 'auto' works just fine, though 352x288 also works. Doesn't fix the issue, though. However, what DOES is if I switch to vertical orientation. Still tearing without triplebuffer, but that's fixed with it and there's no stutter. Hmm....

on my wg7000 i set most games to display at 352x288 aka the street fighters, ninja turtles and such, and for the older games like pacman, mappy and galaga and vert shooters i use the 640x480 with the black boarders on the sides and it runs like a gem, 2.8 P4 with a gig of memory and the AVGA 2 should run things fine, whats your desktop res set too?

I have a 27" multi-sync, in horizontal orientation, and so set the desktop (and any games I don't use native resolutions for - there are a few) to XGA. Mine isn't set up for 'arcade mode', though I don't see how that would have any effect given my hardware.
