Yeah, when I saw all the pics this past week from some of the new owners, I wondered (as did more than a few on RGP) how long before one of them was on eBay. Even if I had the means, there is no pin I would ever consider paying 10k+ for. For that kind of investment, you could get a couple of new STERNs, or some completely restored WIlliams/Bally Machines. I think it's cool that the BBB repro project got pulled off, but I'm not sure I actually find the layout of the game much to my liking. I'll be curious to see if these machines hold their value, or if Medieval Madness is destined to be the big money pin again.

They'll hold at least most of it as a hobby status symbol, I think, more than as a game that deserves it.

That woman is too attractive for him.

Yeah, but he's even more so.   :laugh2:

Plus I'm sitting in RI right now where the women mostly look like Adrian Balboa's brother.

So the appeal of paying $10k for a BBB is that there's only 183 of them made? Are these the originals by Capcom,  made from the left over parts Capcom made but never put together or are these just repros?

I was actually thinking similarly, but in a dirtier, sleazier way.

Something like this being "rare" is almost unheard of these days.  If 183 were able to be produced today, they can wait until the 183 are sold, and then say "back by popular demand" or "lost inventory found!".  There are so many scams like that out today, I'd wait a year before buying one of these for big money.  Just my 2 cents...

Their only reasoning for dooing 183 was that there were only 183 NOS board sets left from Capcom. What is to stop someone from making a repro board set?

Licensing.

Are the all-in one boards for older SS pins licensed or in the same league with the xxx in 1 arcade boards?

They are reverse engineered and use the same roms, I think, so there wouldn't need to be a license.  Pins are a lot more complex for licensing as there are commonly multiple rights holders for a given pin, between art, sound, any property license a pin may have had, design, etc.  Much more so than cabs which were usually all done by the same company.

There's a Big Bang Bar joke somewhere in here too, but I'm too classy to sort it out.

FWIW, that's not a very well thought of player.
