WG9200 33" degauss issue??
« on: May 28, 2007, 10:03:06 am »
Hi all,

I've a WG9200 33" monitor in my cab. From day one its had trouble at the corners with magnetic style discolouration (you know, like an unshielded speaker was nearby, but theres not). Using the 'degauss' button only shiftf the colours/areas affected. It was in the delivery box for a couple of years near a fridge (I know, I know) while I sourced a cab to put it in. The monitor was purchased new.

Question is, can I sort this easily. I was going to buy a degauss coil but seeing as though the in-built degauss doesn't work is there any point. Am I screwed???

Cheers in advance

The built-in degaussing coil only is just strong enogh to cover average applications. It's only turned on for a couple of seconds as it would burn up if left on longer.

A handheld (manual) degaussing coil is much stronger and can be operated for as long as two minutes before you need to turn it off. There are a couple of types of these coils: one is only a 8" diameter and is made for 15" and smaller tubes. The other is 12" (or so) diameter and is made for 19" and larger tubes. I only use the large one since it can also be used on small tubes without hurting them.
