Checking out dreamcast stuff on ebay and came across this:
HUGE LINK SHORTENED

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Its true.  The same thing happens when you play/save Puyo Puyo Fever on a memory card.  It we change the Dreamcast bios background images to Puyo Puyo when you have this memory card loaded and go into the system menu.

I found the setting in the options for doing this and saved a picture to the VMU but when I load the dash it's either normal or if I hit start like it says in Puyo, I just get a shiny version of the stock dash with no picture...

I don't remember any official means to uploading a picture and saving it that way (is this a hack or something you are talking about)?  This video shows what the standard puyo puyo fever game save should do to the dashboard.  I don't know whats up with the rest of that video showing the dash go into 3D and all, but I'm assuming this is an emulator hack of somekind.

dunno if it will work but try naming the file/picture the exact same name as the one you are tyring to replace and see if it work's with the same name and if not try to match the size exactly and try it again and see what happens.
