Super Off Road ---> Super Sprint

I have an Ironman Ivan Stewart's Super Off Road Track Pak, I was wonder how easy it is(if it's easy) to convert it to a Super Sprint.

Off Road was created by Leland and Super Sprint is from Atari.

I'm assuming I can't (but hoping I can) just swap out the boards.  I don't want to damage my cabinet, but I bought Off Road to scratch a Super Sprint itch.  It'd be nice to be able to play both.

The Offroad isn’t in an original cabinet.  The screen shows a third player option, but there are only two wheels and no way to start the third car. I thin it's a three player game in a two player cabinet.  I’m tempted to MAME it so it can play all the racing games, but that seems like it could be a project that’ll require more time and money that I have.  I’d be happy if I can swap between Super Sprint and Off Road.

yes it does


'fraid that's right.  No way to convert or to get both in one cab without a multi-res monitor or going the MAME route.

The dedicated Leland/Cinematronics Super Off Road was available as either a two player cabinet or a 3 player cabinet. This game is NOT Jamma wiring. It uses the Leland wiring harness and this is a standard resolution video signal.

Atari Super Sprint uses a medium res video signal. Not compatible with the above.

I wonder if it started as a 2-player and the boards were swapped out at some point. Is there a seperate board for the 2-player version or a dipswitch to select it? It seems there aren't any clones listed in MAME, so I'd assume there's only one version of the board.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but would this work the other way around?  I have a 3-player Super Sprint cabinet w/medium res. monitor.  Can I swap in an Off-Road PCB?  If this does work I assume I would need to make my own harness so that wires coming from the cabinet controls would connect to the appropriate pins on the PCB. Similar principle to a Jamma fingerboard.   I'm concerned the signal coming from the spinner/analog hardware from Atari may or may not be compatible with Leland.  Can anyone confirm?  Or even if it was compatible, maybe the sensitivity would be off.  Is there any type of steering sensitivity adjustment configuration in Off-Road?

Did you check the schematics for both games? Check on Crazy Kong. They're pretty detailed so be prepared to spend a little time reading through them.

hey there, new to the forum, came across this posting on google. im interested in doing the same thing. I have a 3 player super sprint and was looking into getting the boards and wiring harness for the off road game and seeing if I can get them both to work in the same cabinet. ive converted my super sprint machine to work on a computer monitor as my original arcade one died. this gets me past the monitor issues between the 2 games, now all I have to figure out is if the steering wheels and pedals will work with the off road game. I was thinking maybe I could have them both setup in the cabinet and then have a power switch that switches between them to be able to play either or. anyways if anyone has any new input that would be great otherwise if I come up with any new developments ill post them. thanks
