WG 19K8004 problem
« on: April 17, 2003, 03:15:34 am »
This is a VGA res monitor and not a standard res, not sure if that matters, but throught I would mention it.

I am pretty sure I toasted something. I have had this monitor for a few years. I just recently tried to use it in a cabinet that takes a monitor without a frame. Where you just bolt the tube in, and the monitor boards go on the side of the cab.

I THOUGHT I still had all the grounds connected, so that it would work this way.

It would come up after tossing some tiny sparks around on the power board (this is a non-isolation transformer monitor, so it has a power board).

But it never came up right. It came up super bright, and would not adjust correctly at all. Kind of like it has a real bright yellow superimposed over everything else. That was with the "screen" control on the flyback all the way down. Turning it up a bit made it so yellow that you couldn't see anything else at all. I then took it out of the frameless application, and put it back in it's frame, but the problem persisted.

So what did I mess up? I am not scared of fixing monitors, I am just not sure what I need to be fixing? Or did I ruin the tube or something?
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.
