I think you didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

saint: you're right. I didn't get that good sleep that only a Holiday Inn Express can give.

shmokes: that's good. I almost tried.

Apparently in his military being a dick is enough to shoot a fellow serviceman.

Or just put him into a comma.  A whole, lot, of comma.

I almost shot someone, a fellow troop who was being a dick, and acting outside of his command authority, but wasn't being checked by those above him. I raised my rifle and was ready to sight. Except that he was driving away with some of my other fellow troops and I didn't want them to get hurt if he crashed. When he found out about it, he came and threatened me...'if you do that again' sort of thing. I told him, go for it. For being a southern-pride yokel, who was almost twice my size, he didn't.

I could be making all this up. What do you think?

Kick them in the back, then stomp on their neck and then run like hell. - Homer and/or Shorthair

PS:  I do think you're making it up.

Why not just say if it's true or not?  Why the hell would you aim your gun at someone just because you didn't like the way he was friggin acting?

If you are a tough guy, that's great and I'm happy for you.  If you wanna be a tough guy but know that you're really not, I'm sure there's a Charles Bronson Wannabe forum somewhere out there for you.

I'm not hating mate - I just can't tolerate phonies - so either you are or you aren't.

He wouldn't, because threatening a superior officer is a major offense, as is pointing a service weapon at any fellow soldier in the absence of clear and present threat.

Sez, I only say something if it's so. Also, I don't say things to intimidate. I say them to educate and inform. (In this case adding weight to my claim of what lengths I might go to in the face of authority.) How people interpret them is altogether different.

Chad: well, you'd be surprised what happens, and what doesn't, in a combat zone. I was prepared for whatever. I got a slap on the hand - literally, a stiff talking to by the company gunny. Sometimes they don't want to make things bigger than they need to be, cos it immediately reflects on them. And, as it turned out, the company gunny was busy getting away with things he shouldn'tve, either...which we ended up hearing about through the grapevine...but all he got was a stiff talking to by the CO. Judicial punishment doesn't happen as easy when you're not in the rear/in a maritime status.

Oh, and technically, the guy I referred to was a superior NCO (non-commisioned officer,  though only a corporal to my lance corporal). It's important to distinguish between NCO's and 0's (that is, zeros). And soldiers are in the army. Notice I said 'troop'.

He was just hoping for some good ol' corporal punishment.

If telling us that you were going to shoot someone for being a dick was supposed to impress us, you are mistaken.
Personally, I think you are nothing short of a jerkoff.

markt has a hard time comprehending the parenthesised part in the first paragraph. Perhaps he's just knee-jerk (get it?) responding to what could be conceived of as unpatriotic behavior or something. However, if he wants to discuss it, he could try doing so.

(Except for the, rather mild, innuendo in the parenthesised part, this post is neutral.)

Fine.  This computes.

There sure is a lot of mention of rears and stiffs though.  Sounds like F-Troop to me  ;D

Alas, what I originally said saint thought inappropriate enough to remove. (It would be really convenient to do the same with posts as with topics so that people know they've been cut.) Anyways, I sent you a copy of the original...or close to an original of my last. And though it was of a different humor, yes, yours is cute, lass.
