Need advice on cleaning my Gym floor
« on: May 10, 2007, 02:16:57 pm »
Hey guys
Just wondering if anyone can advise me on cleaning a rubber gym floor. In my gym I have those large 6x4 matts..they are ribbed like um steel plates kind of..anyways I have been trying to clean them to no avail..Still looks like some dirt/dust on them..see the surface is porus like an orange so its difficult to clean. So far I have tried..
1. mopping with water/bleech/cleaning solution...
2. mopping then using shop vac.
3. applied spray nine and armour all...scrubbed and wipped.

I am not getting results..the floor looks dirty. anyone advise me?? I hate to have to rip up all those mats they were a pain to drag into my basement. I think I need something industrial strenght not sure.... here i attached a photo as well to give you an idea what i am dealing with.

Any help, advice or links would be greatly appreciated.

thx
Jim

Is it removable?  I used to have similar stuff in my basement when I lifted a lot down there... I'd just pull it up, take it outside, hose it off.

Hey
It is removeable technically but in realitiy no.. Its cut in exact pieces to cover the entire floor like large tiles. they are very heavy/awkward and it took me 2 days to lug them down and set them up. So I dont want to remove them.  If I do remove them..... it will be to burn them  >:D

No I have mopped them with water etc.. and scrubbed and scrubbed... so I am thinkint that hosing them down wont work much better. :( I was thinking maybe a floor cleaning machine or something? but that is a lot of money to rent..I was hoping someone would have a "magical" cleaner that is industrial and works or something.. also thinking of using an angle grinder with brush attachment or something along those lines...

Anyways its a pain..I spend thousands on my gym.. its great except the floor looks like something from a barn,,too much dirt staying in the pores of the matts... I want it to look fresh and clean.....there has to be a way. I am sure members will have some more ideas.  I apprecaite the idea of hosing....

thx
Jim

Long bristled brush to loosen particles followed by a vacuuming?

Get married?

Ha, ha, ha, man that's so good.

Seriously though, that looks
like the floor at the gym I go to.
All they do is sweep it with a vacuum.
Man I hope you didn't get stuck
with some third rate mats.

It's a gym floor. It isn't meant to be clean.  You could try some Dr. Bronner's.

That was my thought too, but if he wants a shiny gym, he can have a shiny gym.
