B+D 6v drill battery replacement?
« on: May 04, 2007, 09:37:50 am »
I have a low end B+D 6v cordless drill.  It's not very strong but I like to use it for electronics work, makes opening cases and such very quick.  The battery isn't the swap in type, it's built inside the handle.  Can you replace the battery on that type?  I have emailed B+D a couple times with no response.  If I could pick up a cheap replacement battery, it's worth saving, but if not I may as well drop a little cash for another small cordless.

I don't know anything about the drill, but in my experience you should take it to a pricey store like Batteries Plus and they'll probably give you a good idea if they can replace the battery or not.  Now, whether you'll want to spend that much is another story.

Good luck.

Yeah, it's only like a $25-30 tool, but it works very well and is in excellent shape, so I hate to just toss it because the battery sucks.

You'll probably have to make a phone call to B&D if you want any response. Usually, the batteries are the most expensive part of the tool and not worth replacing  :(

That's what I figured.  This battery sucked, I sure as hell didn't do much to wear it out.
