WG 4900, monitor orientation, harm to the monitor?
« on: May 02, 2007, 08:11:46 pm »
This is a newbie question, but I'll ask anyway.  Before the flaming begins, yes I did a search on the forums for my question:

Would it harm a horizontally mounted monitor if I switched it to a vertical orientation?

I've heard it is bad for TVs to be put on their side, and I don't know if the same is true for arcade monitors.  If this is true, perhaps this is what claimed my beautiful Hanatarex MTC9000...RIP

My WG 4900 has been mounted every way.  The burn in is upside down to it's current vertical orientation, and before that it was in a horizontal cabinet.
Nothing is like stepping back, looking at your games, and thinking 'wow, I've done this, and I have these!'

Harm it?  No.  Worst that'll happen is it'll need degaussing.

Agreed..... same goes for a regular TV, they are technically the same as an "arcade" monitor aside from a tuner module.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.
