dans movie marathon
« on: April 15, 2007, 09:18:05 am »

just came home from seeing TMNT. that makes FIVE movies this week! it has been an epic journey (",). this is what i saw:

wed: 300. pretty good. 7/10

thurs: disturbia: stoned guys sitting in my row knew it wouldnt be brilliant so they were laughing ALL the way through. 6/10

fri: sunshine. brilliant except the premise of trying to reignite the sun WTF? 8.5/10

sat: reign over me. i laughed, i cried. 9/10

sun: TMNT. slightly ruined by the row behind me. the incredible whispering chinese girls (swis, swis, swis, swis. how much is there to say in one lifetime? and why cram it into one movie session?). but any movie that has both patrck stewart AND kevin smith is worth a look. 6.5/10

will be hard to beat that record, but there are some good movies coming up...

This has pretty much ruined the movie experience for me. Perhaps I'm old now, but paying $10 to get in a theater and another $15 for snacks I want to enjoy the show.

I went to see Disturbia on Thursday for a free sneak preview.

Damn filmed burned up right at the end.

What happens after he finds the bodies in the basement?

Thanks for the spoiler alert Jim.  :laugh2:

That's exactly why I built a theater in my house.  I can't stand going to a "real" theater most of the time....the sticky floors, the kid behind you kicking your chair, the teenagers just there for somewhere to go, the lack of a beer fridge and recliner seats.....

I can't really build a theatre in my house yet (don't have a house) but in the meantime I go see movies HERE.
I particularly like the ability to order food/drinks at certain times during the film - half an hour into the film someone sneaks in and delivers an ice cold beer and some wedges to your seat. They even manage to do it silently without getting in the way of the screen. Bliss.
Never argue with an idiot, he'll just drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

You guys need to go to the movies with my co-worker. There were 4 teenage boys yapping when we went to see X-Men 2. He turned around to them and said "Are you going to give me the $10 bucks for my movie ticket, or shut the ---fudgesicle--- up?"

Pretty brutal, but apparently exactly what they needed to hear. Didn't even know they were back there after that.  :D

I recently saw 2 movies at home, Children of men, Goyas Ghost. Both were too weird, daft, boring to really enjoy them.

You know what I like to do in these "show no consideration for others" situations. You let the tension build and suddenly you violently leap out of your seat and yell.

"If you don't shut up, I'm going to shove my foot so far up you @ss, they'll have to surically remove it"

At least that's what goes through my mind. Boy is that ever one on my pet peeves.

It's pretty bad when they surgically remove someone's ass.

No, no silly. It's the foot that needs to be surgically removed from said @ss.

I am about 3/4 of the way through it. I have had to stop twice because it is way weird. I can't take the whole movie at once. I like the idea but it is weird. J_K_M_A_N is glad Syd is gone. J_K_M_A_N was tired of Syd. J_K_M_A_N couldn't stand they way Syd talked about Syd. :P

It isn't a terrible movie but it is very strange.

I don't know where you all are getting the strange feeling from CoM. The movie is very straight forward and clear. Is it just the subject matter that makes you uncomfortable? The scary part of the movie is that the way people act in that kind of situation is very realistic. Some people just don't like that in films or movies which is ok. Most of the people I know won't watch Jericho on tv for the same reasons - it invades their comfort zone too much.

I guess I can't explain the strangeness. You could be right.

Like I said, I like the concept but maybe it is a little far fetched for me. Maybe because of the date. Wasn't like 2011 or something? Maybe if they had gone further out. Hard to say. I don't feel uncomfortable watching it. I just feel like it is a weird movie.

I thought Children of Men was fantastic, but a friend of mine recently told me he hated the movie.  He said he liked the first 1/4 of it, then it just got dumb.  He thought the whole thing was too over the top and poorly done.  I tried to convince him otherwise, but his mind was set.
