Monster MAME Arcade Machine
« on: April 14, 2007, 07:23:30 pm »
Hello everyone…

When I started reading the posts on this forum, I became hooked on getting into this cool hobby. I remember spending every last quarter when I was a kid. Now that I’m a little  ;)  older…I’m a “big kid with means”…finally got one of my own. I’d like to thank all the members of this forum for inspiring me to get my own arcade machine. It was an entertaining and creative journey. Thank You.

Unfortunately, 3 months after setting it up, I’ve moved and no longer have the space for this monster. And I’m sure you all know how much space a Showcase cab needs.

So…I’m planning to sell  :(

I’d like to ask what you think my asking price should be. I know I’d never get back the time I’ve spent, but that was all enjoyment anyways. I’m just looking for a fair price.

What’s a fair price for this “Monster MAME Arcade Machine”?

I made a page to display its features:

http://www.hsale.com/arcade/

What’s makes the monster:

-   Original Vision Showcase 33” arcade cabinet
(4 players – 4 - 6 button control panel configuration)
-   10 blue pushbuttons from happcontrols.com
-   13 black pushbuttons from happcontrols.com
-   1-4 player start buttons from happcontrols.com
-   4 Super joysticks from happcontrols.com
-   1 Ipac-4 from ultimarc.com (controls interface)
-   2.1 speakers with powered subwoofer
-   27" Toshiba TV with S-video output
-   Pc with Windows OS , TV tuner card, LAN card and DVD drive

I’m currently running MAME software (thousands of classic arcade games), WinDVD, Virtual Jukebox, Various PC games, Mozilla Firefox browser and other software to view learning videos. The computer that powers the monster is great for everything I’m using now.

Any input is much appreciated.
Thanks

I'm betting you could get $1500. for that sucker, tho you'll probably have to go on eBay to get it.

And I wouldn't sell it with the mame roms on it. That is illegal you know.  ;)

ps. Nice web site. Ebay it and link to it. You'll sell it.

Thats a pretty good quote. I would suspect it to be around there too. My showcase has a 2.8ghz P4 and a 32" Television. I didn't have a chance to sell it before I moved so I put it in storage - but I was getting offers at $1,300.

Thanks IG-88 and leapelew for your quotes

Luckily I wasn’t in this hobby for the money  ;)  the quotes are less than what I’ve put into this monster. I guess I’m ahead if you calculate all those quarters I’ve saved playing it  :D

Yeah, that seems to be the case most of the time anymore. Making money selling arcade machines requires doing lots of building, not charging much for your time and finding deals when/where you can.
