hantarex(based at sydenham hill, london) sometimes have tubes on special offer, maybe you should check out their website(www.hantarex.co.uk) or give them a call as i believe the polo2 are an excellent monitor

To be honest I really dont know will it be displayed on the monitor somewhere. I take it that I can use any one of a list of monitors and the main bit is this polo 2 board that does all the work. Sorry if this seems a stupid question but Im still learning about arcade monitors.

on the tube itself you will find a label with something like A66EAK552X11,that tells you exactly the tube size and type.
if swapping a tube is beyond your means i know people in the u.k that can do it for you for a price, but i must say getting a new tube and having it installed is gonna be a lot less than buying a complete new monitor.
yes you are correct about the chassis(polo2) being able to fit to many different tubes.
the thing is for me its piece of pxxx doing this job but for a novice its not so easy and there are high voltages present in a tv tube.
i think the most logical way forward for you  is to get a direct replacement tube(delivered direct) and have a pro come and fit it

that means you have phillips 25 inch tube which can be replaced by a videocolor tube of code nos.A59ECY13X01 and A59EAS13X01,you should contact hantarex to see if they have these tubes kicking around.
if you use the videocolor tubes you would need to change resistor r35 from 2r7 to 1r on the neck card(easy job)

So for a straight forward hassle free swop what would you recommend I get. I take it these are compatible with the arcade vga that ultimarc sell.

nothing is ever a hassle free swap,if you swap a tube you need to swap over the yoke/degauss/earth strap but its a lot less money than buying a complete new monitor-basically you would have remove the entire monitor and its mounting frame from your cab then disconnect the chassis from the tube including discharging the anode then you would unbolt the tube from the frame and swap everything onto the new tube and then reassemble.it would take me about one hour in total
yes a polo2 is usable with an arcade card
really everything depends on your experience on how much this is gonna cost you,how much experience do you have?

i am from the u.k but i now live and work in spain.
hantarex are a helpful company maybe if they have the correct tube you could take the enite monitor to them and they could swap it for a small charge, they are in south london, where are you?
to be honest if you're worried about swapping a resistor then i would not even try to swap a tube

all you need to quote is chassis type-polo2 25/28 15k/25k and tube type-A59EAK553X11,talk to someone in technical spares dept. and ask them for the same tube if possible but if not just a compatible tube, just get a price first.
that resistor is really easy to change because its on the neck card

i have worked on a lot of touch screen stuff, its been the microtouch system-you would need the screen itself that tapes to the tube,a microtouch controller and the microtouch drivers and a bloody good earth.there may be another way of doing this but this is the way i know.
microtouch parts are available from suzo in the u.k

yes mate just bought a tube as a whole new unit worked out at nearly £500 so I will use my old polo 2 board so yes its a matter of swoping tubes I know that an expert is best but with lack of that do you think that a complete noob could do this ? I don't want to spend my money on a tube and wreck it. Cheers - Marky
