Game system cutouts
« on: April 12, 2007, 04:58:39 pm »
Can anyone point me to where the game system cutouts are.  I've seen them all over the MAMEwah skins, and they add a lot to the skin IMO.  So does anyone know where I can get hold of them.  If you're not sure what I'm talking about, look at this link to a NES skin with the console cutout being used...

edit: I couldn't link to an outside image for some reason, but if you go to the following link, there are several examples of where people use cutout of all of the different types of consoles.

I looked in the arcade gallery and couldn't find them.  I'm sure they are grouped together somewhere.  Thanks.

First off, thanks for the help, but I'm looking for just the NES cutout image used in this skin (and also images of the Gameboy, SNES, Genesis, etc).

I'm sure they exist somewhere, but have no clue where.  I could just download the skin and crop the part of the image I want, but it would be cleaner if they already exist as a gif someplace with a transparent background.  BTW, I'm not sure who made these skins, but I love them.

Not quite what you are asking for, but very cool (I think) and it may work, these are actually fonts, so you should be able to resize them easily and the style is cool.

I don't think there is a collection of just the console images cut out available. The layouts there have the console image as part of the background only, no separate file.

BYOAC forum member jcrouse has collected all of those console mamewah layouts on his site. http://www.cpviewer.emuchrist.org/mamewahlayouts_c.htm
You might contact him, it is possible he might have the source files with the separated console images.

If not you can always use google image search.

I spoke to soon.

There is a zip file with the master PSD for the layouts. You will need photoshop to open the PSD file. It has each console cut out on separate layers.

direct link - http://www.cpviewer.emuchrist.org/downloads/mamewah640x480psdfiles_bw.zip
Linked from this page - http://www.cpviewer.emuchrist.org/graphics.htm

Check out the rest of the site at http://www.cpviewer.emuchrist.org, there is a lot of downloads there that make mamewah setup really easy.

Thanks jcrouse  :notworthy:
