25" lone picture tube. Any use?
« on: April 11, 2007, 06:34:21 pm »
I have acquired a 25" picture tube supposedly from an arcade monitor,  but have no idea what I would use it for as I don't own a monitor of any kind that I would need to replace a tube on(don't have the skills to do that either I don't believe).  Is there anything useful I could do with a 25" picture tube?  It's actually a replacement tube and doesn't belong to a particular monitor but I *think* could be used with a WG.  Should I just get rid of this?  Any ideas?

The 25" tubes are hard to come by....... save it for future projects or offer it up on the Buy/Sell/Trade board. (I know I'm always keeping an eye out for them near me)

Is there a yoke on the back of the tube?

If so, it would be good to know the ohm ratings of the windings so someone would know if it's of use to them.

A tube brand and part number would be useful. Is it new or used?

Here is pretty much all I know about it.  I don't  actually have it yet, but it's on it's way.

It's a used Hawk-Eye 25 inch Picture Tube A63AGD25X

This is the website for Hawk-Eye where they list WG as a brand they use their replacement tubes on.

Here is the story behind why I have it so you can all laugh at me, but hopefully realize why I don't have the faintest clue about what I am doing or why I even bought it..........

I saw it on ebay the other day with 0 bids and .99 starting price.  I figured most people weren't interested as shipping would be expensive.  It was actually being shipped from the same area as where I live so I emailed the company asking if I could pick it up locally.  They were slow responding so I just bid anyway cause I got a shipping quote and knew I wouldn't be out that much even if I won.  I only bid .99 so I wasn't even planning on winning.  I ended up winning for .99 and then spent around 26 for shipping as they said I couldn't pick it up.  So....

I now have a 25" picture tube on the way to my house and don't have the faintest clue what I will do with it.  I only own a WG4906 and it wouldn't be possible to swap tubes would it?  Even if it was, I wouldn't have any clue on doing it.

Anybody with information that may be useful to me is welcome to reply.  Or you can just laugh at me for making an impulse buy I probably shouldn't have.   :dunno

That type number tube is used on the 25" K7000 series (25k7191, etc.). There are a lot of that model monitor out there needing that tube number to fix 'em.

Yup, indeed I agree..... that is a VERY useful tube.
I myself have about four K7000 chassis's I'd like to fix back up...... but no tubes for them.

So an impulse buy now might become useful later on to ya.

Isn't there someone that has a business selling everything needed to utilize just such a tube as this? I think I've seen his link a few times, but I can't seem to locate it right now.

True.... I'm sure someone would gladly pay what you've already got into it.

Yep, that's the site I was trying to find before. The link throws you off because they call themselves 8Liners and their page leads you to http://www.8liners.com/datatech/monitor.html which is what I saw the first time around.

I regret throwing out a 25" (IIRC) TV I had because I fried the crap out of the circuit board. If I knew about that site, I would've just ordered a new board and have myself a sweet arcade monitor instead. AAGGH!!  :banghead:

Hell, in my old apartment for ten years I found at least two non-working TV's in the dumpster every year. I only ever managed to repair one. All that time and I could've had monitors coming out of ---my bottom--- by now.
