Yesterday was a bad day
« on: April 11, 2007, 04:09:22 pm »
Can anybody top this (just for yesterday, I am sure many of you have had some worse day, but I was just wondering if anybody's yesterday was worse).

7:30 am  --  Wake up (pretty bad, huh)
7:31-7:44  --  Futile effort to attain sex from the wife
7:45-7:48  --  Shower
7:49-7:59  --  Get ready for work
8:00  --  Walking out the door for work, but the phone rings. My mom is on the other end crying. My dog we have had for 13 years died last night. This was the last holdover from my youth. The dog came into my parents room panting at 4:00am, so my dad and little brother took him to the animal hospital. The vet said he thought he would be ok, so they left. My mom got a call from the vet before they even made it home (5 minute drive) saying that the dog had died. My mom tells me that after she let the dog in for the last time that night that she called him back over to her and told him she loved him. She said she didn't know why she had the urge to do that. It ripped my friggin' heart out when she told me that part.
8:30  --  actually go to work
8:31-10:59  --  Work (eww)
11:00  --  I get a call from the wife. My best friends dad died.... on Easter Sunday. I have a wife and kids now, so I don't talk to my friends nearly as much as I used to, but I couldn't believe it happened 2 days beforehand and I didn't know.
11:01-4:59pm  --  Work while trying to delay awkward phone call to the best friend.
5:00-5:20  --  Awkward phone call to best friend on the way home from work. It is tough making this kind of phone call when you haven't talked to the person in a while, and I never know what to say in those situations. Apparently they all had Easter dinner at his parents house. Then he and his girlfriend left. 20 minutes later he gets a phone call from his mom telling him that his dad was dead. There was no warning. He didn't have failing health. He was 64. Apparently his mom walked out of the room for like 5 minutes, and she came back in and his hands blue. Heart attack. Heart ripped out once again.
5:21-8:00  --  Took care of my daughter. The only good part of the day.
8:01-11:59  --  Futile effort to attain sex from the wife

So, I know there have much worse days in the history of bad days, but it really sucked.

True. I hope nobody lets the youth in on this secret, or the abstinence movement is all but dead.

Damn, you take a quick shower.  Would that have been the 3 mins you cut out of your morning routine had your futile efforts been successful?  ;D

Fortunately I can say I haven't had a day that bad in a long time.  My condolences.

TOTALLY ---smurfy--- DAY.  I feel for you, pets are tough to loose and the story with their death is never fun.  I've lost several lately and it's never easy.  Good persistence on the futile efforts though, it feels like slipping when it drops down to once a day.

Ridiculous... 13 minutes of trying and still nothing? I say, your a man. You take what you want.

The vet said he thought he would be ok, so they left. My mom got a call from the vet before they even made it home (5 minute drive) saying that the dog had died.
You may want to consider a new vet.

You need to build an arcade in her honor. Features she may or may not appreciate:

  • Put a coin slot that only accepts your quarters once in a great while when it feels like it
  • Design it so the arcade breaks down once a month for a week
  • Make the cabinet actually get larger over the years
  • Put a nag screen that launches before the game and during the game till your forced to quit playing

And even then you have to spend $150 before it will work.
