Mala and Screen Resolution Issue - RESOLVED
« on: April 06, 2007, 01:17:56 pm »
I originally posted this from the software forum, but I'm an impatient bastard and havent gotten much help there yet, so I'm going to cross post it here.  I'm just about done with my cabinet and I want to get this resolved before I put my TV in the cabinet.

I'm running the latest version of Mala (RC9) and am using an ATI Radeon 9550 video card connected to a 27" Insignia TV through component using the DVI-Component adapter.  Through the ATI Catalyst Control Center, I have set the Windows XP resolution to 640x432.  Windows seems to work fine at that res, and I'm getting a decent picture.  Whenever I start Mala though, it changes the resolution to 640x480.  I then get my layout and many of my games (especially the vertical games) get cut off on the top and bottom.  I have set the custom resolution in MAME to 640x432, so I'm not sure why its running the games at 640x480.  As soon as I close Mala, Windows goes back to 640x432.  If I run any games (even vertical ones) from the MAME command line, it runs perfectly right on the edges of the TV and nothing gets cut off.

After all that, my question is, is there a way to not have Mala change the resolution to 640x480?  I'm sure that I'm missing something easy, but this is driving me nuts.  Thanks in advance.

I couldnt figure it out, so I just uninstalled and reinstalled Mala and that seemed to do the trick.
