No "VIDEO 1" label on TV too much to expect for budget?
« on: March 30, 2007, 06:31:21 am »
Just a quick question to all my TV cab people out there..

Is it too much to expect to not want to deal with an obnoxious "VIDEO 1" or any suck label when using a TV with your cab?

I keep hearing about people using TV's with cabs, but I'm always left wondering how you handle the constant reminder?

Or do you guys have TV's that don't make you deal with them?

 :dunno

Video 1 label?  You mean the onscreen text that appears for a few seconds when you switch inputs?  I used to have it when I had a TV, but it never really bothered me.  The TV usually wasn't even warmed up by the time it went away.

I take it you didn't jump on that dirt cheap Dotronix 25" monitor then?  :(

My component input label disappears after about 3 seconds, so it's not an issue. If you're talking about that Video 1 staying there, it's just a matter of pressing the "display" button on the remote to make it go away.

Well I'm still weighing my options..  I'm not sure I like having to deal with software (Powerstrip) for monitor efficiency, as I've seen multiple different problems with it (not only on this forum) and it's setup.  That and I'm worried about how my newer games are going to look on such an old monitor.  If I were only playing older games on MAME alone then I wouldnt care, but I don't want Outrun 2006, Raiden 3, the new TMNT, and others to suffer for it.

Ideally what I would want is a monitor like the dotronix that supports s-video or HD15 VGA out..

I'm still considering it,...  but I'm also still considering getting a TV for now until my second cab (which will be classics only)

My mind is racing back and forth, really.  :P
