Looks like you are missing that Midway metal decal on the coin door. I've seen repros around for something like $10 or less. I think it would add a nice touch to the whole restoration:)

You mention vinyl and laminate, I assume for the faux wood. Which did you use vinyl or laminate and do you have a link?

I'm using vinyl laminate. The hard stuff you are thinking of is formica laminate. I used the Teak color, as it was the closest match, and is very eye pleasing.

A skilled person could probably do it, but not me. If that were the case, I would have taken it to the dude who always tints my vehicle's windows. That guy's work is like art. He could have done it no sweat.

Either way, it would have to be applied wet so you could move it around and trim it.

With MsPac, Galaga, Burgertime, Tron cocktails you can unscrew the control panels from the inside and could apply the vinyl easier then. I'm not sure if Pac-man is the same way or not, but I would have thought so.

The originals were glued in. Even Mike's arcade plans has you gluing them in. I made mine removeable. Why would anyone want to glue them?!?

For Pac only? I've never seen Mike's arcade plans, I hope they're more accurate than Jakobud's.

I'm bumping this up in prep for a major update tomorrow. I just need to finish a few minor wiring connections and then tidy up the wiring. Sadly, I won't even get to enjoy the machine for long. The buyer will be picking it up Tuesday evening...

I'll have to dry my tears with the wad of cash I'll be getting I suppose.

Here is the results of the beautiful weather this weekend. I was able to get out and paint the clips and panels. I decided to salvage the CPO's. As you can see, the 1 player CPO was pretty worn in the middle. I used an exacto knife and one of my wife's scrap booking templates to trim it up and make it look more natural. I also evenly trimmed the part at the top. Then I sanded the panels, masked off the CPO, and went to town with paint. I used the cheapo walmart paint, which sucks. I wish I would have used the high end Universal paint which I am using on the LW3 resto. Use that stuff and you just can't go back to cheap paint. The pics do make it look way worse than it does in real life.

About those buttons:

I have used a greenlee punch on another machine and really like it. I don't have access to the greenlee set anymore, so I picked up an harbor freight set. They 'look' the same as the greenlee set, and that is where it ends. You have to use the two smallest punches in order for those of you who have never used them. I started the smallest punch, and the piece of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- stripped out the threaded puller slug. I didn't even get to punch one frikkin hole!!! What is the point of making a tool like that if you aren't even going to use strong enough steel for the threads to stand the pressure.

I ended up having to use my 1-1/8 hole saw. I drilled a hole in a piece of 3/4" plywood to use as a pilot, then clamped the control panels to the plywood. It worked like a charm that way.
