Light Gun Conversion Technique? Hotd?
« on: March 26, 2007, 09:44:45 pm »
First of all here is what I want in my finished cab:
- 4 player control panel on a Neo-Geo style cabinet (how cool would an extended Neo-Geo be? :) )

- 2 light guns in holsters on the side, that work well, and hopefully look cool. In my strange mind, cool would be the colorful ones, like found on House of the Dead.

- A working version of House of The Dead.

It seems like there are only two light gun choices out there, both being expensive as well as total @#$%. I am wondering if it is possible to take an original arcade light gun, and convert it to have a USB port. Or is USB not the right kind of port? Are there good choices out there I’m not seeing? Am I totally lost on this? Any help you can give me is much appreciated. Also how good does hotd (House of the Dead) work? Is there anything special you need to do to get hotd and the light guns to function properly, or will it work “right out of the box”. I don’t have a PC with windows yet guys, so I wouldn’t know these things myself. Also, I haven’t even started building my cabinet yet. Just getting ready. Cheerio, and thanx a million!

This doesn't really answer your question, but there's 44 pages of TopGun lightgun info.  in a thread here, and most people seem pretty satisfied with the performance.  It's only like $50 which seems reasonable.

I doubt you're going to get a real arcade lightgun for a cheaper price than that.
