XBox 360 Analog sticks?
« on: March 21, 2007, 10:10:57 pm »
Does anyone know how I can interface some normal arcade analog sticks to the 360?  I was thinking there must be a way to hack on a controller, but I don't have the engineering background to do it.  Anyone have some suggestions?  Thanks!

Yeah, I read that one before I posted.  It's a great run through on getting the digital signal from the controllers for a traditional arcade stick setup.  However, I really want to make a control panel that runs Geometry Wars, and that requires the use of the dual analog controls.  Yeah, I know... Crazy!  But I think GW on a full upright arcade machine would be fantastic!!

Ahh ok.  Pretty sure there's no way to do that.

Oh, there's a way!  It must be done!!  Someone, somewhere made analog sticks for the 360, and someone else will make real analog arcade sticks, as well!  *grin*  Hopefully some brilliant electronics engineer will find this thread and show us the way...

Theres been some discussion on this in the main forum, but so far there doesn't seem to be much of a solution:  http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=63925.0

I cant see any reason why you cant remove the pots from the 360 controller and simply wire up a happ analog stick in place of the original thumbticks.  you may have to replace the pots on the happ stick to match the ones you removed from the 360 controller, but they look like fairly standard so they shouldn't be a problem to find . Of course 2 happ sticks will cost you about $260
