The article says they won't go on the streets, but they were just showing some on the news installed on the streets. So, I don't know, but I know I want one.

I just saw one of these the other day when going to a volleyball tournament my kid was playing in.  They most definitely are on the streets.  This one is on the public street that is considered part of Marquette University's campus.

I hadn't seen your thread, and I just about got into an accident not paying attention to the road because it looked so odd and out of place and I was staring at the thing trying to figure out if it was a science project or something before I realized it was a mailbox!

I know I'd consider it if one came to town.
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

It is a serious felony to tamper with the Mail.  I know a couple of guys who got in hella trouble when we were teenagers for pulling pranks on mailboxes.  Way out of proportion with what they did but the gov't takes the mail very seriously.  Violent criminals get less than you would get if you got the wrong judge.

Yep, they will come down hard on you for that stuff. One of our big hobbies in high school was mailbox baseball. That came to a screeching halt one night when some buddies of mine got busted. I can only assume that they would get a little more pissed off about stealing a special limited edition mailbox straight off of the street.

special limited edition mailbox

nice. :laugh2:

They had this on snl and i quote "C3PO would rather take your package."  I think everyone is going to consider taking these mailboxes.  watch check ebay and they will be there.  then people will start asking for repro sideart for a mailbox.

Only the dumbest mofo you could think of would steal a mailbox and put it on Ebay.  So, for those of you still in high school, that mad pothead friend you have is going to try it.

Yep, without a doubt, if you put one on ebay... you go to jail. For sure.

Still, I want to see someone try.

I knew a kid in middle school that used to put cats in mailboxes.  He had a really messed up home life.

I never understood how kids enjoy burning/blowing up other peoples mail. That's about as lame as it gets.

No one ever wanted to go near the mailboxes in NS... you couldn't do enough to stop them from becoming earwig nests.
