Searching for Hantarex Polo 25" service manual
« on: March 14, 2007, 06:44:06 am »
Hello all,

Since the Hantarex Polo 25" in my Killer Instinct (European) arcade machine is having some trouble with the horizontal display (the image gets stretched too far vertically, and it leaves black boxes on the sides; the controls cannot compensate for it anymore), I am looking for a service manual for this monitor. Does anyone know where i could download/find/buy one?

Try here for a manual:

http://arcarc.xmission.com

Look under "PDF Monitors".

Now to your other problem. Whenever the controls now longer seem to work properly or adjust 'enough' then it's time for some new capacitors. Since Hantarex are well known for tons of bad capacitors, then I strongly suggest you have a capkit installed right away.

Thanx. :) I've just printed the service manual, and I'll pass your tips on to the friend I've managed to bribe into doing the repairs for me. Keeping my fingers crossed here.

Hmm, the service manual does not appear to have a schematic of the board. Is this normal? I have tried to contact hantarex, but their email addresses seem to be out of order. Perhaps I'll give them a call this weekend or next Tuesday.

Never mind; it seems they misfiled the schematics as a separate file named Haxtrax. :) The 25" size is not a part of it, but I'll check if that makes a difference.

Edit: Yes, it does make a difference. There should be a separate schematic for the 25-28" versions somewhere, but I can't find it on the site. Ok, looks like I need to place that phonecall after all.

Could anyone tell me the difference between the Polo 25" and the MTC 9110 25"? Is it just a chassis difference or are the boards also different? The site I found on the topic wasn't really clear about it (well, not clear enough for a n00b like me): http://www.coin.demon.co.uk/monitor.htm

You'll need to call either the Hantarex branch office in the UK or their headquarters in Italy.

There are several manuals I've noticed on arcarc that have typographical errors in their titles so they are often overlooked.

the polo and the mtc are 2 different chassis, the polo's do need alot of caps changed when old but the fault you describe could be down to something else.
does the monitor react to being tapped?if so you should be looking for bad solder joints, especially on the remote adjustments board
