XBMC / Thanks SNAAKE !! :)
« on: March 10, 2007, 03:48:27 am »
I have been reading bits and pieces on the web about this.

But eveything i read seems to be explained differently each time.

And to be quite honest, I trust the people on this forum,  Way more than what im reading

elsewhere.

I get that you have to have 3 original games.

Mech , 007 , Splinter Cell.

Memory Card,  USB adapter,  Game Save Data.

After this i get kinda lost,  Meaning each explanation is different?

Anyone have a simple ,  Step by Step  Method or Guide ?

Thanks!

You only need 1 of the games listed and the proper exploited save game.  The save games can be found from the usual places (look for Krayze's Softmod Pack).  Then you boot the game and load the exploied save file you put on your memory card through a device like a pro action replay.  Once you load it you will be in Evolution X.  Choose install Softmod and follow the instructions.

Thanks,

Yeah i meant you needed one of those 3 games.

Just didn't make it sound like it in the 1st post.

So EVOLUTION X is in the Saved Game Exploit ?

Meaning, You don't have to back and install it seperately?

It will already be there after you load the Saved Game Exploit ?

Thanks.

once you softmod it, you can put any dash on it that you want.

The hardest part is getting the hacked save game onto your memory card.( action replay, or someone with a hacked xbox) I used a usb flashdrive and the action replay software.

after you have done that , you just copy it to the xbox (in the save game manager)

Pop in your game, load the save from in the game and follow the instructions.

with Krazies it takes about 5 minutes and you only have to hit the A button on the controller about 3 or 4 times total. and then its done.

there is a krazies extra disk that makes it really easy to change dashboards and add a bunch of other programs. or you can just FTP into the xbox and install em all yourself.

Here is a how-to for putting XBMC on the xbox. It covers soft-modding as well.

Wooooooooo !!!

I installed a softmod with no problems!

It was so easy it was scary.

The only problem i am having is that, No DVD movies will play when i try to select,

Play Games / Media from DVD with Evolution X.

When i select that option, The Evolution X green logo pops up,

Then it just goes back to the main menu.

Can't even play a DVD now from the MS dashboard.  Even with the playback kit.

These are store bought DVD's im trying if this helps ?

Anyone had this problem ???

Thanks!

Boy! Easier said than done !

I was jumping up and down with how easy the softmod was.

Now im pounding my head with XBMC !

How do you get this running ??

I copied/replaced the files in E:/DASH/

Hoping the replace EVOX or at least select XBMC from it.

That led to nothing happening.

Still EVOX is there just like before, And you can't even select XBMC ?

What do i have to do? Copy XBMC into main E:/  and replace everything in there ?

Thanks!  BUCKET ......

ftp all the xbmc files to xbox C drive(or E if you installed your evox there through softmod) and delete the currrent evoxdash.xbe file and rename your xmbc default.xbe to evoxdash.xbe and your xbox will boot to xbmc

Re: XBMC / MAMEDOX install
« Reply #13 on: March 14, 2007, 09:47:22 pm »
I got MAMEDOX installed in my XBMC and it plays fine.

One Question if anyone can help?

It shows up in the Games section of XBMC.

How can i get it to show up in the Emulators section ?

Also i installed DVD2XBOX, Great program i might add.

But like MAMEDOX i can't get it, where it is supposed to go?

I want it in the Programs.

I have to go to the to the bottom of XBMC, Click the File settings tab and get to it that

way.

By clicking default.xbe

Any help on these 2 question would be most appreciated !!

Hey,  SNAAKE !

Just wanted to say Thank You for your help.

Just the little bit of info you gave me really helped me out.

This past week,  I Softmodded my XBOX.

Installed XBMC, DVD2XBOX and MAMEDOX.

Today i upgraded my HD to 120GB.

Shows you can learn alot in 1 week.

Again,  Thank you for the help.

I really appreciate it.   :)

The scene has come a bloody long way.  The first time I modded an Xbox I had to prepare the new hard drive by hooking it to a computer and booting to a Linux based disc that got it all ready for the Xbox.  Everything was much much much more difficult.

Things are SOO much easier now.  SNAAKE, if you aren't already using it, I highly highly recommend checking out AvaNetPrepare from the guys who make the Avalaunch dashboard.  It makes setting up new hard drives incredibly easy.  And you can set up profiles, so when you're dealing with anonymous customers you can tell it to just set up the basics, but when you're dealing with friends you can have it install all the games, etc.  And, maybe best of all, it uses burst mode which makes FTP file transfers impossibly fast, basically constantly transferring files at the full 100 Mbit/sec bandwidth.  Seriously, someone who does the volume you do should know about this amazing little app.

Very interesting?

Actually the way described above is exactly how i upgraded my XBOX HD.

So is there an easier way to upgrade a SOFTMODDED XBOX HD ?

Anyway what's up with the XBOX 360 ?

Is there any MODCHIPS for it ?  Or SOFTMODS ?

Because right now,  Im liking my Original Modded XBOX.

Better than my XBOX 360.

Yeah, I use AvaNetPrepare, which preps the hard drive with it installed in the Xbox.  It will then populate your partitions with whatever you want it to over the network.

Aside from that, though, all the modern mod chips have built-in hard drive prep utilities.

For someone using a softmod, though, you'd probably be stuck with either the Linux disc or AvaNetPrepare.  Between the two, though, AvaNetPrep is by far superior, IMO.  Much easier, and no need to fool with opening up your PC's case, etc.

It, and every other app available for the Xbox, can be found on Xbins.  If you are going to enter the world of Xbox modding you REALLY need to familiarize yourself with Xbins.

Yep . . . you'll find that you are now advertising, cos everyone who sees you using Xbox Media Center will be like, "What is that?" in a voice tinged with awe.  And then a few weeks later you'll be modding an Xbox for them.  I've modded about 9 or 10 Xboxes now, and that's how it's always happened.  I don't advertise a modding service.  People just see it and want one.
