Time to ask my annual question
« on: March 07, 2007, 02:49:17 pm »
Hey all! I've been procrastinating building my new arcade cabinet for far to long now  :-[  About every six months or so (Okay so maybe not annually  ;)) I check on the current arcade monitor news.  I want to put a 25" arcade monitor in my cabinet but the 27" multi resolution monitors are so tempting!  Are there any new monitor's that I should look for or should I just such it up and get the 27" Betson?  Thanks!

Nate

Check out the Niemann display monitors. Rick is on these forums a lot finding out how he can constantly improve them for this community.

As far as the Betson goes, I did not think they have a Tri-res.

If you are interested in a standard res, we can do that in either a flat or curved tube.

If you are interested in a tri-res we offer a 24.8 and a 27" flat tube.

Check out our website and feel free to call. Be sure to let me know where you are located and I will try to help you as far as where the closest distributor is.

By the way, Jeff, thanks for the referal.

I could be wrong but I thought that Betson Imperial 27", which is reviewed over at retroblast, was a Tri Res.  I was really interested in a Tri Res monitor because it was my understand that they were able to produce a nice looking desktop for a computer but also show most arcade games at their native resolution (Through an arcadeVGA).  If I'm way off on this, please let me know!

As for your website, I would be extremely interested in your 24.8" monitor if it can do what I wanted above.  I'm located in Newport News VA 23602.

It is.  Scan range for the Betson is 15-38KHz if I remember.

Yes, I stand corrected... I had the 24.8" tri-mode in mind.

Betson does offer a Kortek (Korean) 27" that does upto 800X600 res.

Honestly the price is typical to the Korean stuff- I doubt my distributors can match the price. but I can guarantee we will far outdo the quality and service....

I don't know dick but what I've read and heard from people, but I recently asked Rick about his monitors and he really laid in the detail on how he goes about making these. It's also nice that he has regional distributors of his units.  Rick referred me to the one in mine and this guy told me some interesting things. I mean, it could be hype...but how many monitor manufacturers are doing this (who knows where their stuff really comes from?), let alone catering to us common folk?

I would prefer to go with a local distributor with better customer service.  I would also like to say that cost isn't a factor but unfortunately it is.  I see your website doesn't post any prices but I would like to know about how much the 25" tri-mode monitor typically runs.  If you don't feel comfortable posting that info, I understand.  Could you PM it though?  Thanks!
