NeoTec 2702 Monitor/Video Card Issue

Monitor: NeoTec 2702
- 31.5 Khz Frequency
- 640x480 Resolution
- 45Mhz Video Band Width

Old Video Card: Matrox G450 AGP DualHead

New Video Card: Arcade VGA 2 PCIE or Radeon X700 PCIE

Issue:  Everything works fine with the old video card but can't get anything displaying correctly with
either of the new video cards.  Monitor displays multiple images side by side in most cases.  If I modify various timings in Powerstrip I can also get two images top to bottom.  Either way I can't seem to get the correct settings to output the display correctly.

Monitor works fine with the old video card thus I know it's not a monitor issue.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I'm a newbie, but aren't you not supposed to need powerstrip if you have an avga?  Perhaps there's a conflict?

I had the issue described above prior to using Powerstrip... just used Powerstrip to tweak the timings etc to see if I could get it to work.

when you get multiple images its down to the input frequency being set wrong,i would email ultimarc to get the correct setup for your avga card then i bet your other card will work as well

Looks like you are using an ArcadeVGA with a VGA only monitor.

The card can display VGA, though you may have to use the utility from Ultimarc to enable it, as by default it is designed to output 15Khz native arcade signals, which would produce a double image on your 31Khz monitor.

EDIT: Ok, I'm out of date, the AVGA 2 card is also designed for VGA monitors.

Two options:

1) Use the DVI port. (Use a DVI-VGA adapter if you need a VGA connection). This will work like a normal gfx card

2) Use the VGA port, designed for 15Khz output, and run the Tri-Sync utility from Ultimarc to enable 31Khz output on the VGA port.


If you are only using that monitor, which is VGA only, I would just use the DVI port.

I've tried both the options you mention to no avail...

The weird thing is that if I attach the computer to a normal computer monitor first, bootup normal, shutdown and then immediately switch the cable to the NeoTec monitor and boot up, it works up until I try to fire up a game in mame and it attempts to change resolutions.

The old card would work perfectly including display of the various DOS/Text screens the motherboard kicks out.   The new cards have never displayed the DOS/Text screens correctly. 

Not sure why the old Matrox Card worked fine???

Any other suggestions appreciated!
