Nanao MS8-29FSG no vertical deflection

He sees that problem all the time and has the cure. Tell him you don't have a subscription to Star Tech (it's WAY overpriced IMO).

Now I see why he sent you to STJ. He wrote a repair guide for several of these monitor models in conjunction with STJ and they're selling it for $50. Pity too because it has the information/repair you're looking for.

i have an ms8 schem,i will have a look to see if i can id the likely problems but i would be looking at bad solder joints/faulty deflection ic or missing 25volts to deflection ic

I had a similar problem with a Nanao MS8-26SU which I posted in this thread:

Jomac was able to help me and I posted the info.  It's probably not going to be the exact same parts for helping you fix yours, but it may point you to the right area.  The cap kit was the first thing I had done, which didn't fix it, and it turned out to be a burnt resistor.

I went ahead and spent the $50 for STJ ultimate monitor repair. Looks like a part order is next , will post when its fixed.

Replaced, IC 401 {LA7832}
Replaced, C432  {100uf  35v}
Replaced, R432  {4.7 ohm 1/2 w}

It lives!
