So who is going to see it on friday. I can't ---smurfing--- wait. Looks like it is going to be phenominal. I mean if your into the constant action/blood/war/anger thing.

I saw the lead guy on Leno the other night, he looked out of shape it seemed. Did they all wear body suits in the movie, cgi or what?

I thought the previews made it look pretty dumb, but the prescreenings have produced literally unanimous applause for it. Now I'm kind of excited.

I heard on an interview that a lot of the cast went through a pretty grueling workout regiment, dunno about any cgi done. I am and always have been a sucker for non stop action movies, I get such an adrenalin rush watching movies like braveheart and Conan the Barbarian...

Not to mention a bunch of grown men in loincloths, but that is neither here nor there

This is the first movie in a long time that I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

I normally don't watch anything but the trailers to movies I want to see because I don't want to spoil the movie. But since this movie doesn't have much of a plot and is just non-stop action, I decided to go ahead and check out a few clips.

The bodies aren't CGI'd. I remember seeing some making-of video of the filming process (virtually the entire move is filmed in front of a green screen. It looks like it would be an incredibly boring movie to make as an actor). Anyway, everyone really is musclebound.

I'm thinking of skipping Friday to see it (that not being the only reason, of course). I really can't wait to see this movie. I seriously get goosebumps every time I see the trailer.

That reminds me of Brad Pitt after making Troy. He's a chain smoker and he stopped smoking cold-turkey for an entire year to get in shape for that role. If you saw Troy you know that he got huge. He was ripped. He said in interviews that he had never been in better shape in his entire life. He also couldn't wait to finish filming so he could start smoking again.

Imagine being a life-long chain smoker and managing not only to quit for an entire year, but get in the best shape of your entire life, and actually be excited to let it all go again. Most people that age can't stop smoking and wish they had never started. He must REALLY like smoking.

Not everyone likes to be bulked up. Edward Norton now looks small compared to American History X. I believe he said in interviews and what not that he didn't like spending tons of time in the gym etc. He is still in good shape, just not huge like he appeared in that movie.

Of course it occurs to me that it works the other way, too. You could always just start living in the gym now and you would get it.

I really want to see this movie, but I have heard reports that there is lots of "dudeity". I'm OK with nudity, but dudeity.. I'm not so sure. I did hear that there is tons of combat with heavy metal playing in the background. I guess I'll just close my eyes during the "dudeity".

I watched it thru unfortunately...well at least it was only 75 minutes long. It had a few funny scenes but it was nowhere near as funny as everyone makes it out to be. Reminds me of another crappy- though mildy funny movie: Napoleon Dynamite.

Anyways, back to on-topic.

300 looks like an awesome action flick, but I'll wait until video.

No doubt. I have seen several premieres at IMAXs and it is just such a better movie experience. I just hate the puffed up usher with a power kick that forces you to the far right hand side because you were at the front of the line (which I had been waiting a long time to be there). I explained ...Um...Dick, I have been waiting 2 hours here... not to be at the far right, but in the dagum middle. Well you gotta move along sir and sit over there... Um no you need to get your manager and I will speak to him about it. No sir you have to move. Um ... no go get a manager, so I can explain why I will need my money back. This is not friggin Disneyland. I paid for these seats and this is where I am sitting. But sir....Get the manager...But....Get the manager. Anyway the point is that IMAX's rule. The sound for one is worth the price of admission to start with. Then that much screen. You really feel like you are there. I saw all 3 LOTRs on IMAX. It was friggin great. Pearl Harbor was great in IMAX (though they did miss the point. (Thanks Matt and Trey))

I will be looking for 300 in IMAX. Might make it a "research project" for work. Studying the techniques used in the CG.

I just wish there were one closer. They're all in pain in the ass places to get to in MA and RI.

Of course, most places in MA and RI are a pain in the ass to get to.

Things are starting to look down. No more 100% for 300. The negative reviews parallel EXACTLY my gut feeling about this movie. At the beginning of the week I thought I was going to be broven wrong, and I was rather happy about that. Now I'm thinking the movie is exactly what it looks like: Seriously short on plot, with the majority of the dialog being replaced by non-stop Braveheart-style battle speaches that haven't been fresh since Braveheart. It has just always seemed like the previews showed angry naked musclemen yelling a lot, which doesn't sound that appealing when stretched out over an hour and a half or two hours.

Here's to hoping that it really does end up proving me wrong.

I don't think its going to prove you wrong. Its going to be a non stop action movie and is often compared to a video game. Basically they kill a bunch of regular bad guys, then fight a boss battle, then repeat. Its not supposed to have a deep plot, its just supposed to be one hell of a ride. If that doesn't sound appealing to you, then I wouldn't recommend you go see it, but I really like a shallow action movie every once in a while.

FYI, there is an R-rated trailer out on the innernets for 300 now. I don't have to go see it now that I saw plenty of blood, guts, dismembered body parts and boobies!

BTW, since when do movies put out R rated previews??

I saw the movie last night too and it was awesome. It was exactly what I expected, and what I was hoping for.

Like I said to people yesterday, no.. it won't win a best picture Oscar, but damn if it didn't keep me entertained for 2 hours. I'll probably see it again in theaters.

Saw it last night. There is one (dudity) scene that I remember in the movie. Wild Hogs has more dudity in it.

The movie is one fo the best I have seen in a long time. I hope they release a directors cut with additional footage of them fighting the Persians.
