Non-Jamma Boards

Hi guys...

Ive seen a game I want, but its a non-jamma game....
I have a jamma cabinet and its all pretty much plug&play, but how/what do I need to build a non-jamma rig for a new cabinet?

Lots of games have ready-made JAMMA adaptor.

Yeh, what game is it? There are several sources where you can buy ready made JAMMA adapters that plug onto your gameboard. Then you can plug that into your JAMMA cabinet.

Ebay is full of them.....do you need one for Galaxian ? Got one here that I don't need anymore...

Make sure that the monitor orientation is the same as yours and that your controls are adequate for the game (e.g. enough buttons, right stick).

If the power requirements for the non-JAMMA PCB are standard (+5v, -5v, +12v) then you can buy or make your own.

I have made several jamma converters.

There is a writeup on it on Bob Robert's site for a PacMan.  It looks like a crossover cable.

You have to get the correct female connector and then a Jamma "comb".  You look up the pinouts for the board and then the Jamma converter. It takes some time and a lot of soldering.

I usually hook up the power and the video first and try it out.  If it powers up then I go for audio.  After that the controls (Player1 button 1), etc. and of course the coin ups.

I hold test and service for last.

It takes a good 2 hours for me to make a pretty one.

It's a shot of whiskey for some of them.

I made a Konomi and one for those old bootleg pac's.  I made one for a Pacman, and my masterpiece is a centipede adapter with built in amp powered by the jamma harness.

Some of the guys here gave me some direction on that one.

I built  Millipede, and  Missle Command adapters.  Pain in the butt, but each time  I was bored and had a PCB that needed testing
