A 266 will actually run ALOT of games perfectly. I suggest adding everything you have, and then removing things that run too slowly.

Also, make sure you have any fancy graphics options disabled (stretching, and stuff like that).
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

You might also want to run in DOS instead of w98... In that case, I'd recommend glaunch, er game launcher for your FE...

could you restate the question, so that it's clear what you are trying to do?  what type of monitor btw, that'll make some difference....

I can run many games on my 233mhz system.

In general, the older the game, the better your chances are that it will work.

There are exceptions.  Gorf and Wizard of Wor do not run well on my machine using newer versions of MAME, but Golde Tee Golf is playable!

Some games like Gorf, Wizard of Wor, and many of the vector games actually run better using older versions of MAME.

My older machine was only 200MHz and I ran under DOS with Game Launcher.  On this slightly newer machine, I am running under windows 98 for dual mouse and USB support. I have not noticed that windows is slowing thing down much.

Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!
