Saw Children of Men today. Awesome movie!
« on: February 25, 2007, 10:57:37 pm »
This one really sucks you in. The part of the movie that just blew me away is that the action scenes are all done in single takes! The one in the end where they run thru an urban battlefield is frikkin awesome! The camera is always right behind the guy, and at one point a little blood gets spattered on the camera lens. If it felt any more real, I would have had bullet wounds.
Highly recommended. I can't believe the director wasn't nominated for an oscar.

i saw this one a few weeks ago, and before that i was saying 'apocolypto' was the best film i had seen all year, now i think 'children of men' is the best film i have seen in a few years. it was so much more than i thought those single take "private ryan" style shots are amazing and the emotions it brings out in people..

i just can say enough positive things about this film.

if you see 2 movies at all this year see both of these.

Aside from the action does the story seem rehashed?  when i saw the trailer i thought id see but i didnt get the chance to and im wondering if the whole people cant have kids seems over done.  the part i thought interesting was when he was drinking coffee and the building behind him gets busted open by some sort of explosion is that the scene youre referring to shardian?
Back in MY day we lived on the moon and we had to build a rocket ship from scratch to get to the Earth before we suffocated.

Yeah, that was early in the movie, but it was also a single take scene. The people must have hauled ass out a side door of that building because it was crammed full of people about 30 seconds before it exploded.

28 days later was  very "real" feeling too. I am a zombie movie lover, and that one is probably the only horror movie to ever make me lose my appetite after seeing it. Mainly the scene where the girl hacks her friend up with a machete.

I'm sure there was plenty of that, but I have no doubt this film used CGI in quite a few shots.

Unless there's something. to back up that there wasn't.

Edit: now I'm sure of it.  http://www.fxguide.com/article390.html

Wow. Now I am thinking that this movie should have won the special effects oscar. They fooled the hell out of me.
Note: Don't open Peale's link if you haven't seen the movie.
