dMame from Mala
« on: February 25, 2007, 12:40:11 pm »
Wow - I am totally impressed with Mala - this is the best FE yet!   I am particularly excited that it will run the dos command-line version of mame.exe.  This version is very lean and mean and works best on my old P3 system.  The only problem I have is that when you terminate a game, the dos box pops up and requires some keyboard work to get it closed.  Is there any way to disable that dos-box remnant so that it cleanly exits back to Mala?  Anyone know?

Also, the problem I have is that the resolutions for the games are different between dos mame and windows mame of a particular version - it is as if the dos version reads some different information as the i586 version.  Anyone know about that?

G'day

I hope you mean command line version of mame not the dos version ? Dos version is not ideal as mala is windows based. That may fix your res problem too

Anyway in:

options-mame config-additional (windows state)

You can choose to have the window hidden.

But that may not solve your problem as the question is why is it pasuing there anyway.?

More info please? What version are you running ? What does the dos-box say?

No I mean the dos version.  It rocks.  I'm running 0.69 and the games are smooth and fast... if I run the windows command line version of 0.69 it's nowhere near as fast.  You should try it.

OK  ???

I'm using windows command line version (Not mame32)   .79

It goes fast as the games are supposed to go

(sigh)...  Oh Mame, will you ever be as fast again?  I'm currently using .108 and I want to move backward, but I'm paranoid about losing new updates/features.... oh well
